Our Story
Our journey began with the late Dr. Sirisena Rajapaksha Gamage, a physician with exceptional clinical talents from Gothatuwa. Registered as an Ayurvedic doctor in 1956, he started by preparing drugs himself at the Bauddha Mandiraya in Pettah. Driven by a desire to heal, he personally distributed his early formulations—like the popular “Golden Baba Panu Tonic” and “Nethrananda”—traveling by bus to reach patients across the island.
In 1971, the business was formally registered as an Ayurvedic drug manufacturing company. Named “Rajarata Ayurveda” because most raw materials were sourced from the rich herbal lands of the Rajarata area, the company grew from a single-employee operation into a Limited Liability Company. Today, the legacy is carried forward by his sons, Dr. Mangala Kumara Rajapaksha Gamage and Mr. Devan Prasad Rajapaksha Gamage, ensuring the family’s commitment to quality continues.
We have evolved from manual production to a modern facility that adheres to strict international standards, holding the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification. While we currently manufacture a wide range of Arishtas, Oils, and Churnas, our vision for the future includes establishing a fully equipped Ayurvedic Hospital and a Medical College to pass this knowledge to the next generation.
